Tampa Bay

The Tampa Bay Lightning began their inaugural season in 1992 after the National Hockey League awarded the Tampa Bay area an expansion team two years earlier.

Since then, the Bolts have made three Eastern Conference Final appearances over the past five years, including most recently during the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Lightning won the Stanley Cup in 2004, defeating the Calgary Flames in seven games. The Lightning won their first Presidents’ Trophy, awarded to the top team in the NHL during the 2018-19 regular season, posting a franchise-best 62 wins.

The Tampa Bay Lightning, as well as the leasehold rights to AMALIE Arena, were purchased by Jeff Vinik in March 2010. Vinik has executed an organizational plan over the past nine years to fuel a comprehensive brand transformation, while also making a significant positive impact in the Tampa Bay community. Since acquiring the Lightning, Vinik has made the organization a world-class franchise, created an unrivaled fan experience for guests of AMALIE Arena and a team Tampa Bay sports fans are proud of both on and off the ice.
